1 6 WINCKLER, LENSING, DE BOEF, HUSEMAN, KETTERING,
1 7 DRAKE, ROBERTS, and BRAUNS
1 8 A Resolution honoring Cael Sanderson on his athletic
1 9 achievements as a wrestler.
1 10 WHEREAS, Iowa State wrestler Cael Sanderson is the
1 11 nation's most accomplished collegiate wrestler; and
1 12 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is a senior and has an Iowa
1 13 State career record of 159 wins and no losses; and
1 14 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is the nation's top-ranked
1 15 wrestler at 197 pounds; and
1 16 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is the first college
1 17 wrestler ever to win the NCAA Tournament's outstanding
1 18 wrestler award four times; and
1 19 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is a two-time Dan Hodge
1 20 Award recipient; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is a two-time Academic All-
1 22 American; and
1 23 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson elected not to compete at
1 24 the 2001 World Championships to concentrate on Iowa
1 25 State team and individual collegiate goals; and
1 26 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson competed at the NCAA
1 27 championships with the Iowa State Wrestling Team in
1 28 Albany, New York, on March 23, 2002, and completed his
1 29 fourth consecutive undefeated collegiate wrestling
1 30 season with a fourth NCAA championship; and
2 1 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson is the first collegiate
2 2 wrestler ever to win four individual NCAA titles
2 3 without a loss; and
2 4 WHEREAS, Cael Sanderson has provided Iowa State
2 5 wrestling fans, the State of Iowa, and the nation with
2 6 four years of excitement and inspiration; NOW
2 7 THEREFORE,
2 8 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 9 That the House of Representatives recognizes and
2 10 extends its congratulations to Cael Sanderson for his
2 11 outstanding and unparalleled athletic achievements at
2 12 Iowa State and thanks him for his contributions to
2 13 Iowa State wrestling and athletics.
2 14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of
2 15 Representatives wishes Cael Sanderson continued
2 16 success in all of his future endeavors.
2 17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
2 18 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall
2 19 prepare official copies of this Resolution for
2 20 presentation to Cael Sanderson and to Iowa State
2 21 University.
