TAYLOR, TREMMEL, TYMESON, 1 14 TYRRELL, VAN ENGELENHOVEN, WARNSTADT, WEIDMAN, 1 15 WINCKLER, and WISE 1 16 A Resolution congratulating the University of Northern 1 17 Iowa Panthers Women's Basketball Team. 1 18 WHEREAS, the University of Northern Iowa Panthers 1 19 Women's Basketball Team finished the season with a 1 20 record of 18 wins and 11 losses, finishing the season 1 21 with a winning record for the fourth consecutive 1 22 season; and 1 23 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are greatly pleased 1 24 and justly proud that the University of Northern Iowa 1 25 Panthers Women's Basketball Team received its first- 1 26 ever postseason bid to play as the number three seed 1 27 in the Women's National Invitational Tournament; and 1 28 WHEREAS, the Panthers received athletic honors both 1 29 during the regular season and post-season, including 1 30 having two players named to the 2001 All-Missouri 2 1 Valley Conference Women's Basketball Team, one player 2 2 to the All-Freshman Team, and one player to the All- 2 3 Defensive Team; and 2 4 WHEREAS, the Panthers also had three team members 2 5 named to the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar- 2 6 Athlete Team, and the team achieved an average 2 7 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.35, 2 8 including three members who achieved a perfect 4.0 2 9 GPA; and 2 10 WHEREAS, the University of Northern Iowa Women's 2 11 Basketball Team consistently thrilled spectators and 2 12 ranked third in the Missouri Valley Conference for 2 13 attendance, and broke a school single-season 2 14 attendance mark at home games; and 2 15 WHEREAS, Panthers Head Coach Tony DiCecco, in his 2 16 sixth year at the University of Northern Iowa, is the 2 17 winningest coach in the Panthers' 32 completed seasons 2 18 of women's basketball, and with the assistance of the 2 19 coaching staff, directed and inspired the Panthers 2 20 Women's Basketball Team to new levels of success; NOW 2 21 THEREFORE, 2 22 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 2 23 That the House of Representatives congratulates the 2 24 University of Northern Iowa Panthers Women's 2 25 Basketball Team, Head Coach Tony DiCecco, and the 2 26 coaching staff on their successful season, thanks them 2 27 for the honor and excitement they brought to the State 2 28 of Iowa, and wishes them the very best in the future. 2 29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the 2 30 Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives shall 3 1 prepare a copy of this Resolution for presentation to 3 2 Coach Tony DiCecco and the University of Northern Iowa 3 3 Panthers Women's Basketball Team. 3 4 LSB 3603HH 79 3 5 vl/cls/14
