1 1 Section 1. Section 297.22, subsection 2, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 3 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. The board of directors of a
1 4 school district may negotiate and pay a fee to a county,
1 5 municipal corporation, township, or area education agency for
1 6 the transfer of ownership of any interest in real property
1 7 from the school district to the county, municipal corporation,
1 8 township, or area education agency. The public notice and
1 9 hearing provisions of subsection 1 shall apply to a board
1 10 proposal for payment of a fee for an ownership transfer
1 11 pursuant to this paragraph.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides authorization for school districts to
1 14 dispose of real property through payment of a negotiated
1 15 disposition fee by the school district to a county, municipal
1 16 corporation, school district, township, or area education
1 17 agency. The bill provides that a school district board
1 18 proposal to pay a fee for an ownership transfer shall be
1 19 subject to public notice and hearing provisions.
