  1  4 CONCERNING THE VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY SERVICES PROVIDER DEATH
  1  5    BENEFIT BY PROVIDING FOR THE DEATH BENEFIT FOR RESERVE PEACE
  1  6    OFFICERS, ELIMINATING THE PROSPECTIVE REPEAL OF THE DEATH
  1  7    BENEFIT, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1 10 
  1 11    Section 1.  Section 100B.11, subsection 3, Code 2001, is
  1 12 amended to read as follows:
  1 13    3.  For purposes of this section, "volunteer emergency
  1 14 services provider" means a volunteer fire fighter as defined
  1 15 in section 85.61, or a volunteer emergency medical care
  1 16 provider or volunteer emergency rescue technician defined in
  1 17 section 147A.1 who is not covered as a volunteer emergency
  1 18 services provider under chapter 97A, 97B, or 411, or a reserve
  1 19 peace officer as defined in section 80D.1A.
  1 20    Sec. 2.  2000 Iowa Acts, chapter 1232, section 98, is
  1 21 repealed.
  1 22    Sec. 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 23 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
