1 1 Section 1. Section 172B.5, subsection 3, Code 2001, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 3. DETENTION. A law enforcement officer may detain a
1 4 person transporting livestock for a reasonable period of time
1 5 not to exceed thirty minutes for the purpose of verifying any
1 6 information obtained by the officer. A law enforcement
1 7 officer, who detains for any purpose a person transporting
1 8 livestock, shall make every effort to maintain the condition
1 9 of the livestock during such detention.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill requires a law enforcement officer, who detains
1 12 for any purpose a person transporting livestock, to make every
1 13 effort to maintain the condition of the livestock during the
1 14 detention.
