PAG LIN 20 HOUSE FILE 2009 30 50 AN ACT 70 ALLOWING AN ASSESSOR TO BE A CANDIDATE FOR ELECTIVE PUBLIC 80 OFFICE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 90 100 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 110 130 Section 1. Section 441.17, subsection 1, Code Supplement 140 2001, is amended to read as follows: 150 1. Devote full time to the duties of the assessor's office 160 and shall not engage in any occupation or business interfering 170 or inconsistent with such duties. This subsection does not 180 preclude an assessor from being a candidate for elective 190 office during the term of appointment as assessor. If an 200 assessor is elected to a city or county office, to a statewide 210 elective office, or to the general assembly, the assessor 220 shall resign as assessor before the beginning of the term of 230 the office to which the assessor was elected. 240 Sec. 2.
