1 1 Section 1. Section 331.321, subsection 1, paragraph b,
1 2 Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 b. A county conservation board in accordance with section
1 4 350.2, when a proposition to establish the board has been
1 5 approved by the voters. The county board of supervisors shall
1 6 also appoint a county conservation director. The appointment
1 7 is subject to the approval of the county conservation board.
1 8 Sec. 2. Section 331.324, subsection 1, paragraph o, Code
1 9 2001, is amended to read as follows:
1 10 o. Fix the compensation for services of county and
1 11 township officers and employees if not otherwise fixed by
1 12 state law. The board shall employ and fix the compensation of
1 13 the director and employees of the county conservation board as
1 14 necessary for carrying out the provisions of chapter 350.
1 15 Sec. 3. Section 350.4, subsection 6, Code 2001, is amended
1 16 by striking the subsection.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 This bill provides that the director and employees of the
1 19 county conservation board shall be appointed by the county
1 20 board of supervisors. The director's appointment is subject
1 21 to the approval of the county conservation board. The board
1 22 of supervisors shall also fix the compensation of the director
1 23 and employees of the county conservation board.
1 24 Under current law, the county conservation director is
1 25 appointed by the county conservation board and the
1 26 conservation director employs and fixes the compensation of
1 27 assistants and employees, subject to the approval of the
1 28 county conservation board.
