PAG LIN 1 1 HOUSE FILE 526 1 2 1 3 AN ACT 1 4 PROVIDING FOR A STUDY OF STATE LAW REQUIREMENTS IN THIS STATE 1 5 AND OTHER STATES REGARDING BARBER RECIPROCITY PRACTICES. 1 6 1 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 1 8 1 9 Section 1. RECIPROCITY STANDARDS FOR BARBERS STUDY. 1 10 The Iowa department of public health, in conjunction with the 1 11 board of barber examiners, shall conduct a study regarding 1 12 reciprocity standards, including program hours required and 1 13 apprenticeship programs, for barbers in other states. The 1 14 study shall be conducted with the input of barber schools and 1 15 licensed barbers in this state, and shall examine and review 1 16 state law requirements concerning the reciprocity practices of 1 17 other states, with a particular emphasis and focus on the 1 18 states surrounding and bordering the state of Iowa. The 1 19 objective of the study shall be to determine ways in which the 1 20 existing reciprocity system between the state of Iowa and 1 21 graduates of barber schools and licensed barbers in other 1 22 states can be improved to achieve greater flexibility and 1 23 promote the relocation of qualified barbers to this state. 1 24 The department shall submit a report of its conclusions to the 1 25 members of the general assembly by December 15, 2001. 1 26 1 27 1 28 1 29 BRENT SIEGRIST 1 30 Speaker of the House 1 31 1 32 1 33 1 34 MARY E.
