1 4 RELATING TO THE AMOUNT OF CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION OFFERED IN
1 5 AN APPROVED DRIVER EDUCATION COURSE AS PROGRAMMED BY THE
1 6 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

1 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 10 Section 1. Section 321.178, subsection 1, unnumbered
1 11 paragraph 1, Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
1 12 An approved driver education course as programmed by the
1 13 department of education shall consist of at least thirty clock
1 14 hours of classroom instruction, of which no more than one
1 15 hundred eighty minutes shall be provided to a student in a
1 16 single day, and six or more clock hours of laboratory
1 17 instruction of which at least three clock hours shall consist
1 18 of street or highway driving. Classroom instruction shall
1 19 include all of the following:
