PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 321.34, subsection 8A, unnumbered 1 2 paragraph 1, Code 2001, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 The owner of a motor vehicle subject to registration under 1 4 section 321.109, subsection 1, light delivery truck, panel 1 5 delivery truck, motorcycle, trailer, or pickup who was a 1 6 prisoner of war during the Second World War at any time 1 7 between December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946, the Korean 1 8 Conflict at any time between June 25, 1950, and January 31, 1 9 1955, or the Vietnam Conflict at any time between August 5, 1 10 1964, and June 30, 1973, all dates inclusive, may, upon 1 11 written application to the department, order only one set of 1 12 special registration plates with an ex-prisoner of war 1 13 processed emblem. A sole proprietorship that owns a motor 1 14 vehicle described in this subsection may apply for one set of 1 15 the special plates if the sole proprietor of the business 1 16 meets the prisoner of war requirements of this subsection and 1 17 the sole proprietor has not been issued the special plates as 1 18 an individual under this subsection. The emblem shall be 1 19 designed by the department in cooperation with the adjutant 1 20 general and shall signify that the owner was a prisoner of war 1 21 as described in this subsection. The application is subject 1 22 to approval by the department, in consultation with the 1 23 adjutant general. The special plates shall be issued at no 1 24 charge and are subject to an annual registration fee of 1 25 fifteen dollars. The county treasurer shall validate the 1 26 special plates in the same manner as regular registration 1 27 plates are validated under this section. 1 28 EXPLANATION 1 29 This bill allows a sole proprietorship that owns a motor 1 30 vehicle to obtain one set of ex-prisoner of war special motor 1 31 vehicle registration plates for that vehicle if the sole 1 32 proprietor was a prisoner of war during the Second World War 1 33 at any time between December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946, 1 34 the Korean Conflict at any time between June 25, 1950, and 1 35 January 31, 1955, or the Vietnam Conflict at any time between 2 1 August 5, 1964, and June 30, 1973. 2 2 LSB 2068YH 79 2 3 nh/cls/14
