1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1444, to Senate File 342, as
1 2 passed by the Senate, as follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by inserting after line 2, the
1 4 following:

1 7 "Section 1. Section 49.53, unnumbered paragraph 1,
1 8 Code 2001, is amended to read as follows:
1 9 The commissioner shall not less than four nor more
1 10 than twenty days before the day of each election,
1 11 except those for which different publication
1 12 requirements are prescribed by law, publish notice of
1 13 the election. The notice shall contain a facsimile of
1 14 the portion of the ballot containing the first
1 15 rotation as prescribed by section 49.31, subsection 2,
1 16 and shall show the names of all candidates or nominees
1 17 and the office each seeks, and all public questions,
1 18 to be voted upon at the election. The sample ballot
1 19 published as a part of the notice may at the
1 20 discretion of the commissioner be reduced in size
1 21 relative to the actual ballot but such reduction shall
1 22 not cause upper case letters appearing on the
1 23 published sample ballot to be less than five thirty-
1 24 sixths of an inch high in candidates' names or in
1 25 summaries of public measures. The notice shall also
1 26 state the date of the election, the hours the polls
1 27 will be open, the location of each polling place at
1 28 which voting is to occur in the election, the location
1 29 of the polling places designated as early ballot pick-
1 30 up sites, and the names of the precincts voting at
1 31 each polling place, but the statement need not set
1 32 forth any fact which is apparent from the portion of
1 33 the ballot appearing as a part of the same notice.
1 34 The notice shall also state that the voter must show
1 35 identification to be allowed to vote and shall list
1 36 the acceptable forms of identification as those forms
1 37 are specified in section 49.77. The notice shall
1 38 include the full text of all public measures to be
1 39 voted upon at the election. The notice shall also
1 40 include notice of testing required pursuant to
1 41 sections 52.9, 52.35, and 52.38.""
