1 2 #1. Page 12, by striking lines 18 through 30 and
1 3 inserting the following:
1 4 "Sec. . REPORTS BY THE BANKING DIVISION AND THE
1 5 CREDIT UNION DIVISION. The superintendent of banking
1 6 and the superintendent of credit unions shall each
1 7 prepare a report for the general assembly as follows:
1 8 1. The superintendent of banking shall prepare a
1 9 report for the general assembly that includes an
1 10 analysis of the current state sinking fund for public
1 11 deposits in banks; a comparison of the current
1 12 statutory assessment process for public funds
1 13 deposits, a system of pledging of collateral, and
1 14 other risk-based or nonrisk-based alternatives; and
1 15 such other information or issues as the superintendent
1 16 deems appropriate and useful to the general assembly
1 17 in the general assembly's review of the issues and
1 18 policy alternatives associated with this matter.
1 19 2. The superintendent of credit unions shall
1 20 prepare a report for the general assembly that
1 21 includes an analysis of the current state sinking fund
1 22 for public deposits in credit unions; a comparison of
1 23 the current statutory assessment process for public
1 24 funds deposits, a system of pledging of collateral,
1 25 including the current statute permitting credit unions
1 26 to pledge collateral, and other risk-based or nonrisk-
1 27 based alternatives; and such other information or
1 28 issues as the superintendent deems appropriate and
1 29 useful to the general assembly in the general
1 30 assembly's review of the issues and policy
1 31 alternatives associated with this matter.
1 32 3. Each report may include recommendations for
1 33 changes in applicable existing statutes. Each report
1 34 shall be submitted to the general assembly no later
1 35 than November 1, 2001."
