Presentation of Irish Dignitary
Frevert of Palo Alto presented to the House, Senator Mary
Jackman, M.C.C. (FG) member of the Irish Parliament from
Newtown Castletroy, Co. Limerick. Senator Jackman is a secondary
school teacher at Presentation Convent Secondary School in Sexton
St. Limerick. She is currently a member of the Governing Authority
of the University of Limerick, Castletroy, Co. Limerick. Senator
Jackman is a member of the Fine Gael Party; member of Limerick
County Council since 1985 and chairperson of the Council for the year
1998/99 on the Centenary Year of the formation of Local Government
in Ireland. She was accompanied by her husband Nicholas, and is the
honored guest of the Fortieth Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration in
Frevert of Palo Alto and Jenkins of Black Hawk escorted Senator
Jackman to the Speaker's station where she addressed the House
briefly about the economy of Ireland.
The House rose and expressed its welcome.
Mertz of Kossuth presented to the House the "Irish Stepperettes,"
dancers who performed authentic Irish dances in the House chamber.
CONSIDERATION OF BILLS
House File 2148, a bill for an act prohibiting the use of a
telephone listing that misrepresents the name and location of a
business and making penalties applicable, with report of committee
recommending passage, was taken up for consideration.
Raecker of Polk moved that the bill be read a last time now and
placed upon its passage which motion prevailed and the bill was read
a last time.
