AFTERNOON SESSION The Senate reconvened at 1:22 p.m., President Kramer presiding. QUORUM CALL Senator Hedge requested a non-record roll call to determine that a quorum was present. The vote revealed 34 present, 16 absent, and a quorum present. SPECIAL GUEST Senator Jensen introduced the Honorable Wilmer Rensink and his wife, Marilyn, who were present in the Senate Chamber. PRESENTATION OF VISITORS The Chair welcomed, at the request of Senator Veenstra, twenty-three Rock Valley Elementary students, accompanied by Rhonda Crane. HOUSE MESSAGE RECEIVED The following message was received from the Chief Clerk of the House: MADAM PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the House has on March 18, 1999, passed the following resolution in which the concurrence of the Senate is asked: House Concurrent Resolution 13, a concurrent resolution designating March 1999 as Iowa Women's History Month. Read first time and attached to companion Senate Concurrent Resolution 8. ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION Senator Hedge asked and received unanimous consent to take up for consideration Senate Concurrent Resolution 8.
