Senator Kramer was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice Arthur McGivern of the Iowa Supreme Court. ELECTION OF PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE Senator Iverson placed in nomination the name of Senator Redfern of Black Hawk County as a candidate for the office of President pro tempore for the Senate for the Seventy-eighth General Assembly. There being no further nominations, the Chair put the question to the Senate and Senator Redfern was unanimously elected by a voice vote. The Chair announced that Senator Redfern had been elected President pro tempore of the Seventy-eighth General Assembly. President Kramer requested that Senators Redwine, Jensen, and Lundby escort Senator Redfern to the rostrum. Senator Redfern appeared, took the oath of office, was congratulated and presented to the Senate by President Kramer. Senator Redfern addressed the Senate with brief remarks and thanked the Senate for the opportunity to be a part of the leadership team. COMMITTEE TO NOTIFY THE GOVERNOR Senator Iverson moved that a committee of five be appointed to notify the Governor that the Senate was organized and ready to receive any communication he might be ready to transmit. The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the Chair appointed as such committee Senators Bartz, Boettger, Angelo, Deluhery, and McCoy. COMMITTEE TO NOTIFY THE HOUSE
