1 1 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
1 2 the State of Iowa is proposed:
1 3 1. Section 11 of Article III of the Constitution of the
1 4 State of Iowa is repealed.
1 5 Sec. 2. The foregoing proposed amendment to the
1 6 Constitution of the State of Iowa is referred to the General
1 7 Assembly to be chosen at the next general election for members
1 8 of the General Assembly, and the Secretary of State is
1 9 directed to cause the amendment to be published for three
1 10 consecutive months before the date of that election as
1 11 provided by law.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This proposed constitutional amendment repeals the
1 14 constitutional provision which provides a privilege from
1 15 arrest for members of the general assembly, except in cases of
1 16 treason, felony, or breach of the peace, during the session of
1 17 the general assembly, and in going to and returning from the
1 18 session.
