  1  4 PROVIDING FOR INHERITANCE BY GREAT-GRANDPARENTS, GREAT-AUNTS
  1  5    AND UNCLES, AND SECOND COUSINS OF INTESTATE DECEDENTS.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 633.219, subsections 5 and 6, Code
  1 10 1999, are amended to read as follows:
  1 11    5.  If there is no person to take under subsection 1, 2, 3,
  1 12 or 4 of this section, and the decedent is survived by one or
  1 13 more great-grandparents or issue of great-grandparents, the
  1 14 estate passes equally to each set of great-grandparents, or to
  1 15 their issue, if any survive, per stirpes.
  1 16    6.  If there is no person to take under subsection 1, 2, 3,
  1 17 or 4, or 5 of this section, the portion uninherited shall go
  1 18 to the issue of the deceased spouse of the intestate, per
  1 19 stirpes.  If the intestate has had more than one spouse who
  1 20 died in lawful wedlock, it shall be equally divided between
  1 21 the issue, per stirpes, of those deceased spouses.
  1 22    6. 7.  If there is no person who qualifies under either
  1 23 subsection 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, or 6 of this section, the
  1 24 intestate property shall escheat to the state of Iowa.
