1 1 Section 1. Section 724.4, subsection 4, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. l. A person who carries an unloaded rifle
1 4 and a cartridge clip or magazine for the rifle that is filled
1 5 with ammunition, provided that the cartridge clip or magazine
1 6 is not inserted into the rifle, and that the person otherwise
1 7 legally carries or transports the rifle in accordance with
1 8 this section.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that a person who carries an unloaded
1 11 rifle and a loaded clip cartridge or magazine for the rifle
1 12 shall not be considered to be illegally carrying or
1 13 transporting a weapon, provided that the clip cartridge or
1 14 magazine is not inserted into the rifle, and the person
1 15 follows all other legal requirements for carrying or
1 16 transporting the weapon.
