PAG LIN 1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1635, to Senate File 449, as 1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as 1 3 follows: 1 4 #1. Page 3, by inserting after line 2 the 1 5 following: 1 6 "Sec. . Section 257.31, subsection 5, paragraph 1 7 j, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows: 1 8 j. Unusual need to continue providing a program or 1 9 other special assistance to non-English speaking 1 10 pupils after the expiration of thethree-yearfour- 1 11 year period specified in section 280.4. 1 12 Sec. . Section 280.4, subsection 3, Code 1999, 1 13 is amended to read as follows: 1 14 3. In order to provide funds for the excess costs 1 15 of instruction of limited English proficient students 1 16 above the costs of instruction of pupils in a regular 1 17 curriculum, students identified as limited English 1 18 proficient shall be assigned an additional weighting 1 19 and that weighting shall be included in the weighted 1 20 enrollment of the school district of residence for a 1 21 period not exceedingthreefour years. However, the 1 22 school budget review committee may grant supplemental 1 23 aid or modified allowable growth to a school district 1 24 to continue funding a program for students after the 1 25 expiration of thethree-yearfour-year period. The 1 26 school budget review committee shall calculate the 1 27 additional amount for the weighting to the nearest 1 28 one-hundredth of one percent so that to the extent 1 29 possible the moneys generated by the weighting will be 1 30 equivalent to the moneys generated by the two-tenths 1 31 weighting provided prior to July 2, 1991."" 1 32 #2.
