  Senate Resolution 110

  On motion of Senator Hedge, Senate Resolution 110,

  1                      SENATE RESOLUTION 110
  2  BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
  3  A Senate Resolution honoring Senator Don E. Gettings.
  4     WHEREAS, Senator Don E. Gettings is retiring from
  5  legislative office after completing four terms in
  6  office as a state Senator and three terms as a member
  7  of the House of Representatives; and
  8     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings' service as Chairperson
  9  of the Ethics, Business and Labor Relations, and
  10  Transportation Committees, and of the Transportation
  11  and Safety Appropriations Subcommittee and as Vice
  12  Chair of the Rules and Administration Committee is
  13  well recognized; and
  14     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings also served as a member
  15  of the Legislative Council during the Seventy-fifth
  16  General Assembly; and
  17     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings' dedication, leadership,
  18  and expertise in the areas of business-labor
  19  relations, transportation and safety, and law
  20  enforcement are well recognized; and
  21     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings is well known for his
  22  calming influence on others and his sense of humor;
  23  and
  24     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings has served honorably and
  25  has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
  26  further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
  27  provide beneficial programs for the working people of
  28  Iowa; and
  29     WHEREAS, Senator Gettings has served on many other
  30  standing committees throughout his twenty-two years of

  1  legislative service and has been an influential and
  2  devoted legislator in this state; NOW THEREFORE,
  3     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
  4  tribute to Senator Don E. Gettings for his devoted
  5  service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
  6  of this state and wish him the very best in the years
  7  ahead; and
  8     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
  9  this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
  10  Don E. Gettings,

  was taken up for consideration.
