1 2 BY COMMITTEE ON RULES AND ADMINISTRATION
1 3 A Senate Resolution honoring Senator Don E. Gettings.
1 4 WHEREAS, Senator Don E. Gettings is retiring from
1 5 legislative office after completing four terms in
1 6 office as a state Senator and three terms as a member
1 7 of the House of Representatives; and
1 8 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings' service as Chairperson
1 9 of the Ethics, Business and Labor Relations, and
1 10 Transportation Committees, and of the Transportation
1 11 and Safety Appropriations Subcommittee and as Vice
1 12 Chair of the Rules and Administration Committee is
1 13 well recognized; and
1 14 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings also served as a member
1 15 of the Legislative Council during the Seventy-fifth
1 16 General Assembly; and
1 17 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings' dedication, leadership,
1 18 and expertise in the areas of business-labor
1 19 relations, transportation and safety, and law
1 20 enforcement are well recognized; and
1 21 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings is well known for his
1 22 calming influence on others and his sense of humor;
1 23 and
1 24 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings has served honorably and
1 25 has unselfishly given of his time and efforts to
1 26 further the interests of the State of Iowa and to
1 27 provide beneficial programs for the working people of
1 28 Iowa; and
1 29 WHEREAS, Senator Gettings has served on many other
1 30 standing committees throughout his twenty-two years of
2 1 legislative service and has been an influential and
2 2 devoted legislator in this state; NOW THEREFORE,
2 3 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate pay
2 4 tribute to Senator Don E. Gettings for his devoted
2 5 service to the Iowa General Assembly and the citizens
2 6 of this state and wish him the very best in the years
2 7 ahead; and
2 8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That an official copy of
2 9 this Resolution be prepared and presented to Senator
2 10 Don E. Gettings.
