  Senator Dearden moved the adoption of Senate Resolution 119,
  which motion prevailed by a voice vote.
  SPECIAL GUEST

  Senator Dearden and Senator Szymoniak introduced Iowa Teacher
  of the Year Ruth Ann Gaines, from Des Moines, Iowa, who addressed
  the Senate with brief remarks.

  The Senate rose and expressed its appreciation of Ms. Gaines'
  efforts on behalf of education.

  ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION

  Senator Hedge asked and received unanimous consent to take up
  for consideration Senate Concurrent Resolution 116.

  Senate Concurrent Resolution 116

  On motion of Senator Szymoniak, Senate Concurrent Resolution
  116, a concurrent resolution congratulating Dr. Joan Roberts for
  being named the 1997 Iowa Secondary Principal of the Year, with
  report of committee recommending passage, was taken up for
  consideration.

  Senator Szymoniak moved the adoption of Senate Concurrent
  Resolution 116, which motion prevailed by a voice vote.

  SPECIAL GUEST

  Senator Szymoniak introduced Dr. Joan Roberts of North High
  School, Des Moines, Iowa, Iowa's Secondary Principal of the Year,
  who addressed the Senate with brief remarks.

  The Senate rose and expressed its appreciation of Dr. Roberts'
  efforts on behalf of education.
