The Senate stood at ease at 9:59 a.m. until the fall of the gavel, for the purpose of party caucuses. The Senate resumed session at 10:48 a.m., President Kramer presiding. HOUSE MESSAGES RECEIVED The following messages were received from the Chief Clerk of the House: MADAM PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the House has on March 24, 1998, passed the following bills in which the concurrence of the House was asked: Senate File 2324, a bill for an act relating to the allocation of cost-share moneys as financial incentives to encourage summer construction of permanent soil and water conservation practices. Senate File 2341, a bill for an act relating to hepatitis type B immunizations of children and providing an applicability provision and an effective date. Senate File 2350, a bill for an act establishing a state employee deferred compensation trust fund. Senate File 2367, a bill for an act relating to county vital statistics by providing for the issuance of marriage licenses and eliminating the fee for county birth registrations. PRESENTATION OF VISITOR The Chair welcomed the Honorable Jack Hester, former member of the Senate from Pottawattamie County, Honey Creek, Iowa. RECESS On motion of Senator Iverson, the Senate recessed at 10:50 a.m., until 1:00 p.m. (House File 2272 pending on recess).
