  The Secretary of the Senate submitted the following report:

  MADAM PRESIDENT:  The Secretary of the Senate respectfully reports that the
  following bills have been enrolled, signed by the President of the Senate
  and the
  Speaker of the House, and presented to the Governor for his approval on this
  2nd day
  of March, 1998:

  BILLS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR

  A communication was received announcing that on February 27,
  1998, the Governor approved and transmitted to the Secretary of
  State the following bill:

  H.F. 2002 - Providing that persons convicted of attempted murder serve at
  least
  eighty-five percent of the sentence imposed and providing an effective date.

  Also:

  That on March 2, 1998, the Governor approved and transmitted to
  the Secretary of State the following bill:

  S.F. 2182 - Relating to the state fire marshal, including the installation
  of
  automatic fire extinguishing systems in new construction.

  PETITIONS

  The following petitions were presented and placed on file by:

  Senator Bartz, from forty-four residents of Iowa, favoring
  legislation to protect rivers and streams from hog waste pollution.

  Senator Bartz, from forty-eight residents of Iowa, favoring
  legislation supporting the Resource Enhancement and Protection
  program.
