  1  3 TO PROVIDE THAT PERSONS CONVICTED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER
  1  4    SERVE AT LEAST EIGHTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE SENTENCE
  1  5    IMPOSED AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
  1  6 
  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 902.12, Code 1997, is amended by adding
  1 10 the following new subsection:
  1 11    NEW SUBSECTION.  1A.  Attempted murder in violation of
  1 12 section 707.11.
  1 13    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 14 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
