  The Senate resumed session at 11:36 a.m., President Kramer
  presiding.

  LEAVE OF ABSENCE

  Leave of absence was granted as follows:

  Senator Judge until she arrives on request of Senator Gronstal.

  CONFIRMATION OF GOVERNOR'S APPOINTMENTS
  (Individual Confirmation Calendar)

  Senator Redfern called up the appointment of David J. Fisher as a
  member of the State Board of Regents, placed on the Individual
  Confirmation Calendar on March 31, 1997, and found on page 873 of
  the Senate Journal.

  Senator Redfern moved that the foregoing appointment be
  confirmed by the Senate.

  On the question "Shall the appointee be confirmed?"  the vote was:
