  PRESENTATION OF VISITORS

  The Chair welcomed the following visitors who were present in the
  Senate gallery:

  Fifth grade students from Winterset Elementary School, Winterset.
  Senator Douglas.

  Senator Redfern introduced a group of students from Herzen
  University in St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg State University, Moscow
  State Pedagogical University, and the Moscow Institute of
  International Relations who were present in the Senate chamber. The
  students are participants of the ACTR Exchange Program and were
  accompanied by Holly Crandall from UNI.

  COMMITTEE REPORTS

  AGRICULTURE

  Final Bill Action: *SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 (SSB 256), a
  concurrent resolution requesting that the United States government take all
  actions
  necessary in order to prevent further concentration and vertical integration
  in the
  livestock industry.

  Recommendation: APPROVED COMMITTEE RESOLUTION.

  Final Vote: Ayes, 14: Rensink, J. Black, Judge, Angelo, Behn, D. Black,
  Fraise,
  Gettings, Hedge, Kibbie, Rehberg, Rife, Vilsack and Zieman. Nays, none.
  Absent or
  not voting, 1: Bartz.

  Fiscal Note: NOT REQUIRED UNDER JOINT RULE 17.

  *Pursuant to Senate Rule 40, the Legislative Service Bureau reported
  nonsubstantive changes to the members of the Agriculture Committee on Senate
  Concurrent Resolution 10 and they were attached to the committee report.

  ALSO:

  Final Bill Action: HOUSE FILE 687, a bill for an act relating to statutory
  references
  to the Iowa beef industry council and increasing an excise tax on beef
  cattle upon a
  referendum.
