1 1 Section 1. Sections 455B.116 and 455B.601, Code 1997, are
1 2 repealed.
1 3 Sec. 2. Section 455D.15, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code
1 4 1997, is amended by striking the paragraph.
1 5 EXPLANATION
1 6 This bill repeals Code section 455B.116 which requires the
1 7 department of natural resources to establish and implement a
1 8 toll-free telephone number to allow citizens to report
1 9 incidents of pollution to the department. The provision in
1 10 Code section 455D.15 providing funding for the pollution
1 11 hotline program is stricken.
1 12 The bill also repeals Code section 455B.601 which requires
1 13 the environmental protection commission to adopt rules to
1 14 establish criteria for the classification and prioritization
1 15 of sites upon which contamination due to pesticides or
1 16 fertilizers has been discovered.
