1 3 #1. Page 18, line 32, by striking the figure
1 4 "235,000" and inserting the following: "265,000".
1 5 #2. Page 18, by inserting after line 32 the
1 6 following:
1 7 "Funds appropriated in this lettered paragraph
1 8 shall expand the community health enhancement program,
1 9 the existing community grant fund and the primary care
1 10 loan repayment and community scholarship program to
1 11 the governor's designated shortage areas and rural
1 12 federally designated, medically underserved areas, as
1 13 established in section 135.107. Funds appropriated
1 14 for an expanded community health enhancement program,
1 15 when added to any other appropriation, shall not
1 16 exceed a combined total of $100,000."
1 17 #3. Page 27, by inserting after line 8 the
1 18 following:
1 19 "Sec. . Section 135.107, subsection 3,
1 20 paragraph a, Code 1997, is amended by adding the
1 21 following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 22 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. One hundred thousand
1 23 dollars is appropriated annually to the Iowa
1 24 department of public health from the general fund of
1 25 the state for an expanded community health enhancement
1 26 program to fund projects demonstrating a high degree
1 27 of innovation or need in achieving a major expansion
1 28 of a region's primary care network or capacity.
1 29 Notwithstanding subparagraphs (1) and (2), funds
1 30 received pursuant to this paragraph shall be
1 31 unrestricted in amount, but shall not be awarded to a
1 32 community with a population of greater than ten
1 33 thousand located within a region. Projects for which
1 34 grants may be awarded include, but are not limited to,
1 35 renovations of hospitals and clinics, the purchase of
1 36 major medical equipment, expansion of a provider
1 37 network, or the provision or expansion of medical
1 38 services. Grants for this enhancement program shall
1 39 not be awarded in the same fiscal year to a community
1 40 or region which is receiving a primary care
1 41 recruitment and retention endeavor community grant
1 42 award pursuant to subparagraphs (1) and (2) for that
1 43 fiscal year."
