  1  1    Amend Senate File 35 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 4, by inserting before the word
  1  3 "parents," the following:  "except for the first five
  1  4 million dollars of each share passing to persons who
  1  5 are".
  1  6    #2.  By striking page 1, line 13, through page 2,
  1  7 line 29, and inserting the following:
  1  8    "Sec.    .  Section 450.9, subsection 2, Code 1997,
  1  9 is amended to read as follows:
  1 10    2.  Each son and daughter, including legally
  1 11 adopted sons and daughters, or biological sons and
  1 12 daughters entitled to inherit under the law of this
  1 13 state, fifty thousand or parent, grandparent, great-
  1 14 grandparent, or other lineal ascendant, stepchild, or
  1 15 grandchild, great-grandchild, or other lineal
  1 16 descendant, five million dollars.
  1 17    Sec.    .  Section 450.9, subsections 3 and 4, Code
  1 18 1997, is amended by striking the subsections."
  1 19    #3.  Title page, line 1, by striking the words
  1 20 "eliminating the inheritance tax on" and inserting the
  1 21 following:  "increasing the exemptions from the
  1 22 inheritance tax for".
