1 2 BY CORBETT, SIEGRIST, SUKUP, NELSON, JACOBS, CORMACK,
1 3 FORD, BURNETT, MASCHER, MYERS, BERNAU, and GIPP
1 4 A House Resolution congratulating the Drake Bulldogs,
1 5 Iowa State Cyclones, and Iowa Hawkeyes Women's
1 6 Basketball Teams.
1 7 WHEREAS, the citizens of Iowa are justly proud that
1 8 the Drake Bulldogs, Iowa State Cyclones, and Iowa
1 9 Hawkeyes Women's Basketball Teams were invited to the
1 10 1998 NCAA tournament and that each team had a
1 11 successful season; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the Drake Bulldogs Women's Basketball Team
1 13 greatly pleased all fans and Iowans by winning the
1 14 Missouri Valley Conference Championship for the second
1 15 consecutive year and by being chosen as the number
1 16 five seed in the Midwest Region for the NCAA
1 17 tournament; and
1 18 WHEREAS, the Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball
1 19 Team made the citizens of Iowa justly proud by
1 20 completing a successful season with a school record 25
1 21 wins, by finishing second in the Big 12 Conference
1 22 regular season standings, and by being chosen as the
1 23 number four seed in the Mideast Region for the NCAA
1 24 tournament; and
1 25 WHEREAS, the Iowa Hawkeyes Women's Basketball team
1 26 delighted the citizens of this state by being the
1 27 regular season Big Ten Conference Champs, by being
1 28 chosen as the number four seed in the West Region for
1 29 the NCAA tournament, and by being invited to
1 30 participate in the NCAA tournament for the third
2 1 consecutive year; NOW THEREFORE,
2 2 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 3 That the House of Representatives extends its
2 4 congratulations to the Drake Bulldogs, Iowa State
2 5 Cyclones, and Iowa Hawkeyes Women's Basketball Teams,
2 6 and their coaches, Lisa Bluder, Bill Fennely, and
2 7 Angie Lee, respectively, on their successful seasons
2 8 and expresses its appreciation for the pride and
2 9 excitement the teams brought to the citizens of Iowa.
