1 1 Section 1. Section 295.2, subsection 1, Code Supplement
1 2 1997, is amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. d. There is appropriated from the general
1 4 fund of the state to the department of education for each
1 5 fiscal year of the fiscal period beginning July 1, 1998, and
1 6 ending June 30, 2001, a sum equal to the amount of tax
1 7 revenues received for that fiscal year from the sales,
1 8 services, and use taxes on charges paid to a provider for
1 9 access to on-line computer services. For purposes of this
1 10 subsection, "on-line computer service" means a service that
1 11 provides or enables computer access by multiple users to the
1 12 internet or to other information made available through a
1 13 computer server.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 The bill appropriates to the department of education for
1 16 the school improvement technology program the tax revenues
1 17 received during each fiscal year of the fiscal period
1 18 beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 2001, from the
1 19 sales, services, and use taxes on the charges paid to a
1 20 provider for access to internet or other on-line computer
1 21 services.
