1 1 Section 1. Section 80.18, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
1 2 1997, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 It shall be the duty of the commissioner of public safety
1 4 to provide for the members of the department when on duty,
1 5 suitable uniforms, subsistence, arms, equipment, quarters, and
1 6 other necessary supplies, and also the expense and means of
1 7 travel and boarding the members of the department, according
1 8 to rules made by the commissioner, as may be provided by
1 9 appropriation. In addition to any other necessary supplies
1 10 and equipment, the commissioner shall provide a cellular phone
1 11 to each member of the highway safety patrol to be carried in
1 12 the member's patrol vehicle and used for purposes related to
1 13 the duties of such member.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill requires the commissioner of public safety to
1 16 provide a cellular phone to each member of the highway safety
1 17 patrol to be used by such members for purposes related to the
1 18 duties of the patrol.
