1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 642.22A PAYMENT BY GARNISHEE
1 2 SUBJECT TO MULTIPLE GARNISHMENTS.
1 3 Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter to the
1 4 contrary, a garnishee who has more than one employee subject
1 5 to garnishment of earnings and who would be making multiple
1 6 transfers of such earnings to the same entity pursuant to the
1 7 notices of garnishment if the garnishee responded to the
1 8 individual notices of garnishment, may make a single transfer
1 9 to the entity for the total amount of all employee earnings
1 10 currently garnished and payable to that entity, provided that
1 11 an itemized list of employee names, associated garnishment
1 12 case numbers, and individual amount of earnings is included
1 13 with the transfer of funds.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill provides that an employer who has more than one
1 16 employee whose wages are being garnished may make one payment
1 17 to the entity receiving the garnished earnings, rather than
1 18 making a payment for each employee subject to garnishment,
1 19 provided that an itemized list of employee names, associated
1 20 garnishment case numbers, and individual amounts of earnings
1 21 are included with the transfer of funds.
