1 1 Section 1. Section 321.194, subsection 1, paragraph a,
1 2 subparagraph (1), Code 1997, is amended by striking the
1 3 subparagraph and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
1 4 (1) During the hours of six a.m. to ten p.m. over the most
1 5 direct and accessible route between the following locations
1 6 for the purpose of attending duly scheduled courses of
1 7 instruction and school-sponsored extracurricular activities:
1 8 (a) Between the licensee's residence and schools of
1 9 enrollment.
1 10 (b) Between schools of enrollment.
1 11 (c) Between the licensee's residence or schools of
1 12 enrollment and a location where a school-sponsored
1 13 extracurricular activity is occurring.
1 14 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 15 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill allows a minor who has been issued a special
1 18 minor's license allowing for travel to and from school to
1 19 travel to courses of instruction and school-sponsored
1 20 extracurricular activities that are held at another school or
1 21 off-school property provided that the licensee is a
1 22 participant in a course of instruction or extracurricular
1 23 activity. The bill is effective upon enactment.
