  1  1    Section 1.  Section 426B.1, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
  1  2 1997, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    c.  For the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997, and
  1  4 succeeding fiscal years, ninety-five one hundred six million,
  1  5 five hundred thousand dollars.
  1  6    Sec. 2.  Section 426B.1, subsection 3, Code 1997, is
  1  7 amended by striking the subsection.
  1  8    Sec. 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1  9 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.  
  1 10                           EXPLANATION
  1 11    This bill relates to and makes appropriations to the
  1 12 property relief fund created in Code chapter 426B.
  1 13    The bill provides for an increase in the standing limited
  1 14 appropriation from the general fund of the state to the
  1 15 property tax relief fund.  The increase is from $95 million to
  1 16 $106.5 million annually, beginning with fiscal year 1997-1998.
  1 17    The bill strikes a provision in Code section 426B.1 which
  1 18 annually appropriates $6.6 million in property tax relief fund
  1 19 moneys to the department of human services to be used to
  1 20 supplement the medical assistance appropriations for the
  1 21 nonfederal share of the costs of services provided to certain
  1 22 minors with mental retardation.
  1 23    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
