1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 481A.11A DEER-MOTOR VEHICLE
1 2 COLLISIONS – PAYMENT OF DEDUCTIBLES.
1 3 Upon application to verification by the department, the
1 4 department shall pay a claim for the amount of an insurance
1 5 deductible paid by a claimant as a result of an accident
1 6 involving the claimant's motor vehicle and one or more deer.
1 7 If the claimant did not have collision insurance coverage, the
1 8 department shall pay the cost of damage to the motor vehicle
1 9 or three hundred dollars, whichever amount is less. The
1 10 claims shall be paid from the state fish and game protection
1 11 fund.
1 12 EXPLANATION
1 13 This bill provides that the department of natural
1 14 resources, upon application and verification, shall pay the
1 15 amount of an insurance deductible which was paid by the
1 16 claimant as a result of an accident involving the claimant's
1 17 motor vehicle and one or more deer. If the claimant did not
1 18 have collision insurance coverage, the department shall pay
1 19 the cost of damage to the motor vehicle or $300, whichever
1 20 amount is less. The claims shall be paid from the state fish
1 21 and game protection fund.
