  1  4 RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKERS'
  1  5    COMPENSATION.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 85.1, subsection 1, Code 1997, is
  1 10 amended to read as follows:
  1 11    1.  Any employee engaged in any type of service in or about
  1 12 a private dwelling except that after July 1, 1974 1997, this
  1 13 chapter shall apply to such persons who earn two hundred one
  1 14 thousand five hundred dollars or more from such employer for
  1 15 whom employed at the time of the injury during the thirteen
  1 16 twelve consecutive weeks months prior to the injury, provided
  1 17 said the employee is not a regular member of the household.
  1 18 For purposes of this subsection, "member of the household" is
  1 19 defined to be the spouse of the employer or relatives of
  1 20 either the employer or spouse residing on the premises of the
  1 21 employer.
  1 22    Sec. 2.  Section 85.1, subsection 2, Code 1997, is amended
  1 23 to read as follows:
  1 24    2.  Persons whose employment is purely casual and not for
  1 25 the purpose of the employer's trade or business, except that
  1 26 after July 1, 1974 1997, this chapter shall apply to such
  1 27 employees who earn two hundred one thousand five hundred
  1 28 dollars or more from such employer for whom employed at the
  1 29 time of the injury during the thirteen twelve consecutive
  1 30 weeks months prior to the injury.
