PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 542B.14, subsection 2, paragraph a, 1 2 subparagraph (2), Code 1997, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 (2) However,prior to July 1, 1988,in lieu of compliance 1 4 with subparagraph (1), the board may accepteight years'1 5 practical experience continuous from July 1, 1980, up until 1 6 the time of application to take the licensure examination 1 7 which, in the opinion of the board, is of satisfactory 1 8 character to properly prepare the applicant for the 1 9 examination in fundamental land surveying subjects. 1 10 EXPLANATION 1 11 This bill provides that an individual may be qualified to 1 12 sit for the licensure examination for land surveyors if the 1 13 person has practical experience continuous from July 1, 1980, 1 14 up until the time the individual applies to take the test 1 15 which the board believes to be of satisfactory character to 1 16 properly prepare the applicant for the examination. This 1 17 qualification is in lieu of graduation from an appropriate 1 18 course of study and six years of practical experience. 1 19 Currently, section 542B.14 provides that the experience in 1 20 lieu of education provision only applies to applicants prior 1 21 to July 1, 1988. 1 22 LSB 1655HH 77 1 23 mj/sc/14
