1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.24, subsection 2, Code 1997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. d. The owner or tenant of a farm unit may
1 4 transfer or sell a free deer hunting license received under
1 5 this subsection to another person who, except for payment of a
1 6 deer hunting license fee is qualified to be issued a deer
1 7 hunting license in this state. A free deer hunting license
1 8 transferred or sold pursuant to this paragraph is valid only
1 9 for the farm unit for which it was issued by the department.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill authorizes owners or tenants of a farm unit who
1 12 have received a free deer hunting license from the department
1 13 of natural resources to transfer or sell that license to
1 14 another person who is qualified to be issued a deer hunting
1 15 license in this state. In addition to a free deer hunting
1 16 license, a transferee will need a general hunting license,
1 17 wildlife habitat stamp, and, if applicable, a certificate of
1 18 completion from an approved hunter safety and ethics education
1 19 course.
