1 1 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. _____
1 2 BY WARNSTADT, WHITEAD, KLEMME, RANTS,
1 3 BUKTA, and SCHERRMAN
1 4 A Concurrent Resolution providing for the establishment
1 5 of a committee by the Legislative Council to conduct
1 6 a study of economic development issues related to the
1 7 distribution of goods.
1 8 WHEREAS, the distribution of goods and the
1 9 development of distribution centers for goods in the
1 10 state is considered an important segment of the
1 11 economy of the State of Iowa; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the General Assembly believes a
1 13 comprehensive study of the distribution of goods and
1 14 the development of distribution centers in the state
1 15 is necessary and in the best interests of the economic
1 16 health of the citizens of the State of Iowa; NOW
1 17 THEREFORE,
1 18 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE
1 19 SENATE CONCURRING, That the Legislative Council is
1 20 requested to appoint an interim study committee to
1 21 conduct a comprehensive study of the distribution of
1 22 goods and the development of distribution centers in
1 23 the state by studying all statutory, regulatory,
1 24 taxation, and other issues related to the distribution
1 25 of goods and the development of distribution centers;
1 26 and
1 27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the interim study
1 28 committee should be composed of 10 members consisting
1 29 of members from both political parties and both houses
1 30 of the Iowa General Assembly; and
2 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee should
2 2 be staffed by the Legislative Service Bureau and the
2 3 Legislative Fiscal Bureau. The committee should begin
2 4 its deliberations following the adjournment of the
2 5 1998 Session of the General Assembly and should issue
2 6 its report of recommendations by January 1, 1999.
