1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1866, to Senate File 549, as
1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
1 3 follows:
1 4 #1. Page 6, by inserting after line 48 the
1 5 following:
1 6 "# . Page 22, by inserting after line 21 the
1 7 following:
1 8 "Sec. 204. Section 261.9, subsection 1, Code 1997,
1 9 is amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 10 NEW PARAGRAPH. i. Which calculates, every two
1 11 years, the average cost of an Iowa resident student's
1 12 education at an accredited private institution in this
1 13 state and also calculates the average amount by which
1 14 state moneys subsidize the average state resident
1 15 student's tuition costs. Calculations shall be made
1 16 in consultation with the commission. The institution
1 17 shall cause to be prominently printed on all
1 18 statements of account for payment of tuition and fees
1 19 issued by the institution, the portion of the average
1 20 cost of a resident student's education at an
1 21 accredited private institution in this state that is
1 22 paid by tuition and fees, and the amount paid by
1 23 appropriations from the general fund of the state.
1 24 The information, rounded to the nearest one-tenth of
1 25 one percent and the nearest whole dollar, shall be
1 26 included in the following statement:
1 27 "Tuition pays for approximately ____% of the
1 28 average cost for a resident Iowa student at an
1 29 accredited private institution located in this state.
1 30 The state of Iowa pays approximately $____ of the
1 31 average cost for a full-time state resident student at
1 32 an accredited private institution located in this
1 33 state."""
1 34 #2. Page 8, by striking line 14 and inserting the
1 35 following: "enactment.
1 36 Sec. ___. Section 204 of this Act, amending
1 37 section 261.9, being deemed of immediate importance,
1 38 takes effect upon enactment and applies to statements
1 39 of account issued after January 1, 1998.""
1 40 #3. By renumbering, relettering, and redesignating
1 41 as necessary.
