  1  1    Amend the amendment, H-1866, to Senate File 549, as
  1  2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 4, by striking line 44 and inserting the
  1  5 following:  "1997.
  1  6    Sec. 401.  The board of directors of each merged
  1  7 area shall certify to the department of management the
  1  8 amount of revenues collected by the merged area under
  1  9 the levies authorized in section 260C.22, subsections
  1 10 3 and 4, Code 1997.  The department of management
  1 11 shall reduce the levy authorized in section 260C.17 by
  1 12 the amount certified by the board in accordance with
  1 13 this section.  The board may transfer funds from the
  1 14 cash reserve fund to the merged area's general fund.""
  1 15    #2.  Page 6, line 29, by inserting after the figure
  1 16 "35" the following:  "and inserting the following:
  1 17    Sec. ___.  Section 260C.22, subsections 3 and 4,
  1 18 Code 1997, are amended by striking the subsections.""
  1 19    #3.  Page 8, by inserting after line 8 the
  1 20 following:
  1 21    "#___.  Page 27, by inserting after line 34 the
  1 22 following:
  1 23    "Section 401 of this Act, relating to the reduction
  1 24 of the cash reserve levy authorized in section
  1 25 260C.17, being deemed of immediate importance, takes
  1 26 effect upon enactment for purposes of calculating
  1 27 property taxes due in the fiscal year beginning July
  1 28 1, 1997, and ending June 30, 1998.""
  1 29    #4.  By renumbering, relettering, and redesignating
  1 30 as necessary.
