PAG LIN 1 1 Amend the amendment, H-1866, to Senate File 549, as 1 2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate, as 1 3 follows: 1 4 #1. Page 7, line 23, by striking the word ""Sec." 1 5 and inserting the following: 1 6 ""Sec. ___. Section 282.18, subsection 10, Code 1 7 1997, is amended to read as follows: 1 8 10. Notwithstanding section 285.1 relating to 1 9 transportation of nonresident pupils, the parent or 1 10 guardian is responsible for transporting the pupil 1 11 without reimbursement to and from a point on a regular 1 12 school bus route of the receiving district. However, 1 13 a receiving district may send school vehicles into the 1 14 district of residence of the pupil using the open 1 15 enrollment option under this section,for the purpose 1 16 of transporting the pupil to and from school in the 1 17 receiving district, if the boards of both the sending1 18and receiving districts agree to this arrangement. If 1 19 the pupil meets the economic eligibility requirements 1 20 established by the department and state board of 1 21 education, the sending district is responsible for 1 22 providing transportation or paying the pro rata cost 1 23 of the transportation to a parent or guardian for 1 24 transporting the pupil to and from a point on a 1 25 regular school bus route of a contiguous receiving 1 26 district unless the cost of providing transportation 1 27 or the pro rata cost of the transportation to a parent 1 28 or guardian exceeds the average transportation cost 1 29 per pupil transported for the previous school year in 1 30 the district. If the cost exceeds the average 1 31 transportation cost per pupil transported for the 1 32 previous school year, the sending district shall only 1 33 be responsible for that average per pupil amount. A 1 34 sending district which provides transportation for a 1 35 pupil to a contiguous receiving district under this 1 36 subsection may withhold from the district cost per 1 37 pupil amount, that is to be paid to the receiving 1 38 district, an amount which represents the average or 1 39 pro rata cost per pupil for transportation, whichever 1 40 is less. 1 41 Sec." 1 42 #2.
