  1  1    Amend House File 416, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 8 through 13 and
  1  4 inserting the following:  "the weight on the axle."
  1  5    #2.  Page 1, line 23, by inserting after the word
  1  6 "vehicle" the following:  ", except an implement of
  1  7 husbandry,".
  1  8    #3.  Page 2, line 35, by inserting after the word
  1  9 "tires." The following:  "This subsection does not
  1 10 apply to implements of husbandry."
  1 11    #4.  Page 9, by striking lines 3 through 8 and
  1 12 inserting the following:  "plant site shall comply
  1 13 with the formula under this section which is used for
  1 14 travel on highways that are part of the interstate
  1 15 system.  This paragraph applies only to a vehicle or
  1 16 combination of vehicles operating along a route of
  1 17 travel approved by the department or appropriate local
  1 18 authority shall comply with subsection 4, paragraph
  1 19 "a"."
  1 20    #5.  Page 10, by inserting after line 21 the
  1 21 following:
  1 22    "Sec. ___.  NEW SECTION.  321.467  RETRACTABLE
  1 23 AXLES.
  1 24    A vehicle which is a model year 1999 or later
  1 25 vehicle shall not operate on a highway of this state
  1 26 with a retractable axle unless the weight on the
  1 27 retractable axle can only be adjusted by means of a
  1 28 manual device located on the vehicle that is not
  1 29 accessible to the operator of the vehicle during
  1 30 operation of the vehicle.  However, the controls for
  1 31 raising and lowering the retractable axle may be
  1 32 accessible to the operator of the vehicle while the
  1 33 vehicle is in operation."
  1 34    #6.  By renumbering as necessary.
