         President Boswell announced the assignment of House File 2487 to
    the committee on Ways and Means.

    Senate File 2370

         The Senate resumed consideration of Senate File 2370, a bill for an
    act relating to energy efficiency programs, electric and gas public
    utility energy efficiency mandates, and the Iowa energy center and the
    center for global and regional environmental research, deferred March
    28, 1996.

         Senator Gronstal offered amendment S-5724 filed by Senators
    Gronstal, Flynn and Deluhery from the floor to pages 2, 7 and the title
    page of the bill.

         Senator Lundby asked and received unanimous consent that action on
    amendment S-5724 and Senate File 2370 be deferred.



                                 SPECIAL GUESTS

         Senator Horn presented Iowa State University basketball coach Tim
    Floyd, who address the Senate with brief remarks and expressed his
    pleasure with his team and the university. Coach Floyd introduced the
    team members and support staff present with him in the Senate chambers.
