TENTH CALENDAR DAY SEVENTH SESSION DAY Senate Chamber Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday, January 17, 1996 The Senate met in regular session at 9:05 a.m., President Boswell presiding. Prayer was offered by the Reverend Kay Roath, pastor of the Marion Street United Methodist Church, Boone, Iowa. The Journal of Tuesday, January 16, 1996, was approved. HOUSE MESSAGE RECEIVED The following message was received from the Chief Clerk of the House: MR. PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform your honorable body that the House has on January 11, 1996, adopted the following resolution in which the concurrence of the House was asked: Senate Concurrent Resolution 102, a concurrent resolution designating the week of January 7-14, 1996, as Childrens Week in Iowa. INTRODUCTION OF BILL Senate File 2052, by Vilsack, a bill for an act relating to an assessment of the employability skills of recent high school graduates by the board of directors of a school district and providing an appropriation. Read first time and passed on file. LEAVE OF ABSENCE Leave of absence was granted as follows: Senator Giannetto until he arrives on request of Senator Connolly.
