                     Des Moines, Iowa, Monday, April 3, 1995



         The Senate met in regular session at 2:26 p.m., President Boswell
    presiding.

         Prayer was offered by Harriet Vande Hoef, House of Representative
    Secretary, Osceola County, Harris, Iowa, who sang The Lords Prayer.

         The Journal of Thursday, March 30, 1995, was approved.



                                LEAVE OF ABSENCE

         Leave of absence was granted as follows:

         Senator Bartz until he arrives on request of Senator Rife.



                                   QUORUM CALL

         Senator Horn requested a non record roll call to determine that a
    quorum was present.

         The vote revealed 44 present, 6 absent and a quorum present.



                             CONSIDERATION OF BILLS

                            (Ways and Means Calendar)

    Senate File 201

         On motion of Senator Neuhauser, Senate File 201, a bill for an act
    updating the Iowa Code references to the Internal Revenue Code and
    providing retroactive applicability and effective dates, was taken up
    for consideration.
