    Final Bill Action: *SENATE FILE 348 (SSB 233), a bill for an act
    relating to the defining of surgery for the purposes of the
    health-related professions chapter of the Code by specifying procedures,
    services, and treatments considered to be surgery and by providing for
    expansion of the definition through rulemaking procedures utilized by
    the board of medical examiners.

    Recommendation: APPROVED COMMITTEE BILL.

    Final Vote: Ayes, 10: Szymoniak, Hammond, Boettger, Bartz, Dvorksy,
    Hansen, Kramer, Neuhauser, Tinsman and Vilsack. Nays, none.

    Fiscal Note: NOT REQUIRED UNDER JOINT RULE 17.

         *Pursuant to Senate Rule 40, the Legislative Service Bureau
    reported nonsubstantive changes to the members of the Human Resources
    Committee on Senate File 348 and they were attached to the committee
    report.

    ALSO:

    Final Bill Action: *SENATE FILE 352 (SSB 216.1), a bill for an act
    relating to the family investment program and related human services
    programs by requiring the department of human services to apply for
    certain federal waivers and providing applicability provisions.

    Recommendation: APPROVED COMMITTEE BILL.

    Final Vote: Ayes, 8: Szymoniak, Hammond, Dvorksy, Hansen, Kramer,
    Neuhauser, Tinsman and Vilsack. Nays, 2: Boettger and Bartz.

    Fiscal Note: NOT REQUIRED UNDER JOINT RULE 17.

    prison inmates obtain a general equivalency diploma prior to the

    Recommendation: AMEND AND DO PASS AS PROVIDED IN AMENDMENT S-3127.

    Final Vote: Ayes, 15: Giannetto, McKean, Bartz, Bisignano, Boettger,
    Drake, Fraise, Halvorson, Hammond, Hansen, Maddox, Neuhauser, Redfern,
    Szymoniak and Vilsack. Nays, none.

    Fiscal Note: NOT REQUIRED UNDER JOINT RULE 17.
