    Committee on Memorial Resolutions to appoint committees to prepare
    suitable resolutions for deceased members of the Senate.

         The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the Chair announced the
    appointment of Senators Palmer, Chair; Priebe, Banks and Boettger.



                           HOUSE AMENDMENT CONSIDERED

    Senate Concurrent Resolution 6

         Senator McLaren called up for consideration Senate Concurrent
    Resolution 6, a concurrent resolution objecting to a plan proposed by
    the United States Corps of Engineers to dramatically alter the operation
    of the Missouri River, and to request that the current operation of the
    river be maintained or that an alternative plan be considered that does
    not negatively impact upon the effective operation of the river, amended
    by the House, and moved that the Senate concur in House amendment S-3056
    filed February 10, 1995.

         The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the Senate concurred in
    the House amendment.

         Senator McLaren moved that the resolution as amended by the House
    and concurred in by the Senate be adopted.

         The motion prevailed by a voice vote and the resolution was
    adopted.

         Senator Horn asked and received unanimous consent to take up for
    consideration Senate Resolution 8.

    Senate Resolution 8

         On motion of Senator Kibbie, Senate Resolution 8, a Senate
    Resolution urging the Congress of the United States to continue its
    progress in reducing the federal deficit and to provide to the state of
    Iowa information on the impact that achieving a balanced federal budget
    will have on the State, with report of committee recommending passage,
    was taken up for consideration.
